My blog name is not just a fanciful one, I really do have a purple shed, down at the bottom of the garden.I loved the idea of a studio in the garden, somewhere to make and dream, watch the seasons and take time out of life’s hectic pace. So in the summer of 2010, I bought a 7’x 5′ garden shed. Here it is on the day it was installed. It needed a coat of paintI live in Scotland, where it’s pretty cold and wet so the shed needed a little DIY and TLC to make it habitable in all weathers. It was lined with plasterboard and polystyrene sheets for insulation to make it cosy and dry. I laid some laminate flooring and then I painted it all white to keep it bright and airy.. Then I started filling it with a few things to make it a cosy but practical space to work in. Desk and chair of course, plus shelves for books, notebooks, magazines and bits and bobs. Here it is now, all spruced up for the photoshoot!Quite a colour riot, but I like it, it makes me feel happy just looking at this! It’s nice to sit and look out at the garden listen to the radio or some music with a cuppaand enjoy this small but inspirational space, all my own.
