A day of foul, wintry weather in these parts; rain, sleet, hail, strong wind and cold temperatures.
A day for staying in with my new diary, new notebook and new iPad cover 😄
A day for looking for music for my pupils
A day for snuggling up on the sofa with a cuddly cat
A day to plan and prepare, and to look forward to what’s ahead!
A baby blanket in scarlet, cream and green, a present for my friend’s new baby, I was inspired by her name in my choice of colours, and made it flowery and frilly, just like all beautiful baby girls should be. A red flower centre, surrounded by a cream granny square with a soft green treble edge. I joined the squares together on the back using the red yarn and double crochet stitching, 16 squares in total. Then I added an edging of half treble crochet rows in red and cream and a final shell stitch row to create a frilly edge. Lovely and summery!
Living at the top of a hill is a good place to watch the seasons come and go and the landscape change.
The same view in different light – I never tire of looking over across the city to the hills to the north of Glasgow, seeing them bathed in sunlight or covered in white snow, grey storm clouds overhead or pink and orange sunset streaks in the sky. It will probably look the same this year as it did in 2013, but that’s fine: the familiar can be a reassuring constant in all our lives.
2013 was an interesting year for travelling, both in the UK and abroad, both for business and pleasure. I’ve included Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Newcastle, Amsterdam and Bregenz in this collage.
Not just for Christmas, but for always, a new cat in residence! Its been 6 months since my beloved Oliver died. I knew I would get another cat at some point, but I needed a little time to get used to Oliver not being here. A couple of weeks ago, a friend posted some photos on Facebook of a gorgeous little lady cat who needed a home, I was smitten and she came to live with me a week ago.
Her name is Tara and she has made herself completely at home 🙂
She has been an indoor cat up till now, but she is fascinated by the garden and sits for ages looking out especially when there are birds or other cats to stare at – once spring is here, I’m certain she will venture outside;even though she is timid, she’s also very inquisitive!
Here she is giving the kitchen and the strange and wonderful gadgets in it her full examination! Tara will make an appearance on this blog from time to time of course, maybe she will show a flair for writing posts herself like Oliver did 🙂 Wait and see!
Happy New Year, I’m hoping 2013 will be a fulfilling, creative and prosperous year for all!
Hello, and welcome to my new blog. I have been blogging for nearly 3 years at this page, but I felt it was time for a new name, look and feel. There’ll definitely be plenty of crochet related posts, as I have been spending a lot of time with yarn and hook in hand! Also probably plenty of garden, music and book themes too, in fact a bit of everything that I like. All new and old readers are most welcome, and I’m glad to turn the page onto a new chapter in my blogging life 🙂
